GENERAL INFORMATION SHEET GIVEN TO ALL PARTICIPANTS
A. INTRODUCTION
In this simulation game you will all be inhabitants of
a country called Eporue. (The map attached will give you
an idea of what the country looks like). The people who
live there are called Eporans. The country is divided into
four regions: A, B, C and D.
The country is approaching its 100th anniversary celebrations.
One of the main ideas of the national government is to hold
a cultural festival in Bigsville, the capital of the country
B. THE SETTING
Representatives of the four regional governments are going
to have a meeting to decide:
a) where to hold the festival, and
b) the main contents of the festival programme.
C. DESCRIPTION OF EACH REGION
Region A
The largest region in the country, with the strongest economy.
Bigsville, the capital of the region is also the capital
of the country. No more than 10% of the population is drawn
from the other regions.
Region B
Third largest region in the country. Economically not very
powerful. Its industries rely mainly on Region A for supplies.
This region has traditionally bad relations with Region
C.
Region C
The second largest region in the country and its agricultural
heartland. The extended family is the fundamental basis
of its society. It has a different religion from the other
regions.
Region D
The smallest region of Eporue, although it does have the
largest port. Centuries of immigration have produced a population
drawn from many cultures.
Please Note: every regional government will receive special
instructions.
